Terms of service

1. The service

Zonify is a Shopify app that applies rules you set to decide which visitors may reach your storefront — by country, by IP address and by bot — and that can discourage copying of your storefront content. Installing the app means you accept these terms.

2. Your responsibilities

  • You decide the rules. Blocking a country, an address or a bot is your choice, and you are responsible for it being lawful where you operate and for what it means for your customers.
  • You are the controller of data about your visitors. You must have a lawful basis for recording it, and you must tell your visitors what your store records.
  • You must not use the app to block visitors on grounds that are unlawful where you or they are.

3. What the app cannot promise

  • Country detection is a guess. It is read from the visitor's browser — its time zone and language — and a visitor using a VPN or a changed time zone will be placed in the wrong country. Country blocking is a tool for keeping out people you cannot serve. It is not a security control, and we do not sell it as one.
  • The storefront script fails open. If the app cannot be reached, your store stays open to everyone. We built it that way on purpose, so that a fault in this app can never take your store down. It also means the app cannot guarantee that a rule is enforced during an outage.
  • Content protection discourages copying; it does not prevent it. Anyone can view a page's source or turn off JavaScript. It stops the casual right-click, nothing more.
  • Blocking a search engine removes you from it. The defaults allow search engines. If you change that, the consequences are yours.

4. What the app does not do on its own

Installing the app blocks nobody. Nothing is enforced until you switch on the app embed in your theme and add a rule. The app never edits your orders, products, customers or theme, and holds no permission to.

5. Price

The app is free to install. Pricing for any paid features has not been set; if we introduce a charge we will tell installed merchants before it takes effect, and it will be billed through Shopify. We never handle your card.

6. Availability

We aim to keep the app running but do not promise uninterrupted service. See clause 3 for what happens when it is unavailable: your store stays open.

7. Beta

The app is in early access. Features may change, and some parts are still being built.

8. Liability

The service is provided as it is. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for lost sales, lost visitors, orders from a country you meant to block, a visitor let in who should have been kept out, or any indirect loss.

9. Ending it

You can uninstall the app from Shopify at any time. Uninstalling stops all blocking and deletes your visit log as described in the privacy policy. We may suspend an account that breaks clause 2.
